Royal College of Surgeons 3D heads

January 10, 2016

Some of you might know, I worked for a while with the Royal College of Surgeons making synthetic heads for surgeons to practice on. I worked for Martyn Cooke who developed these M.A.R.T.Y.Ns- modeled anatomical replica for training young neurosurgeons. These were fantastic because there is a severe lack of cadavers due to low donations of bodies for science. What is even more problematic is children under 18 can't donate their bodies to science so surgeons get very little practice at all and the anatomy is very different to an adult. They had an appeal for funding to help create synthetic pediatric models that are now made by Inition by 3D printing from a much older specimen preserved from their collection. Great, great news! https://www.inition.co.uk/…/3d-printed-skull-for-royal-col…/
