MARTYN Project at The Royal College of Surgeons of England

This is me at work as the anatomical model maker For the Royal College of Surgeons. The head of conservation, Martyn Cooke developed the MARTYN project (Modelled Anatomical Replica for Training Young Neurosurgeons) as a response to the need for surgical trainees to get physical practice at the procedures they perform. Getting hold of enough good quality cadavers is very difficult and they are in short supply. All the heads you see here are synthetic and will soon be used to practice specific procedures such as removing blood clots, tumours, draining ventricles and robotic surgery on brain aneurisms.
